Page 14 - Thursday 9th June - More Free Practice (Session 3)

I'm guessing there isn't a lot of commentary needed to accompany a three hour free practice session where the times being set were only of passing interest.  But the weather and the company was good, it was comfortable in the grandstand so we sat and soaked up the sun!

The three hours of free practice was followed by the first of the two Road to Le Mans races.  We had already decided that there was no real point moving on for this and as it was followed by the 'Mickey Mouse HyperPole session, we would stay put for that too as there just wasn't enough time to move to another location.  The RTLM session wasn't exactly fraught with excitement, but we did enjoy one of the GT cars taking a liking to one of the Rolex banners along the straight.....

So then it was time for some more actual qualifying - Hyperpole - all 30 minutes of it!  I'm sorry to be so disparaging about the ACO's wonderful new qualifying format, but for endurance fans it really is pants....  But then, it wasn't designed for endurance fans, was it....?   I was so enamoured with the short session that I only took a couple of pictures.  Tony and Tim had moved on by this time, setting up their 'shop' in the Raccordement grandstand.

Predictably, the two Toyotas took the front row, the Alpine, having divested itself of a huge amount of sand, was close behind in third with the Glicks bringing up the top class rear a second or so behind.  Not what we had hoped for, to be honest....
