Page 13 - Thursday 9th June - Breakfast, Peugeots et Al...
Although I was up and about early, there was no massive rush to get going after our late night. The Le Mans cars weren't due on track again until their three hour session at 2 pm. So we had time to do whatever we wanted to do this morning. We did of course have Allon's arrival to think about. Sean actually made good time from the coast and Al was with us just after 9 am. Our hosts got on with his room as quick as they could and was looked after by Tim and Tony in the meantime. So James, Lauren and I decided to head off for breakfast at Le Feuilette and we were there to fill our boots with baguettes, pastries and strong coffee at about 10.30. Both James and I wore our official 2022 t-shirts, mine being a birthday present from the kids!
Having had our fill, and knowing that Allon would be able to find a berth in Tony's Jaguar for the trip into the circuit we made our way in again. We had plenty of time before the Le Mans cars came out for their session so decided to take a wander around the village. Having missed the new Peugeot Hypercar on Tuesday, we understood that it was going to be on display somewhere in the village, so we went in search of it - and soon found it. Although it was quite a looker, with that slightly strange wingless rear end, in all honesty, I wasn't sold on the livery and seeing the 905 from the early 90's there as well emphasised how much better I felt it would have looked in a similar livery. Anyhow, it was definitely different (i.e. not white, black and red) and these days, different is good!
We had a look around the shops in the village, bumped into Sebastien Buemi, took some silly selfies and then headed off to the grandstand.
I'm not certain what time we actually got into the grandstand but it was definitely in time for lunch! Tony, Tim and Allon joined us shortly afterwards.
