Free Practice - Part 2 - Tertre Rouge
We walked right down on the outside of Tertre Rouge, almost to the entrance there at which point we met the week's first 'Tenther'. Bernard B was there, having typically managed to get into the trackside media area inside the spectator fencing. He said 'The gate was open........'! Bernard was there with his friend Dominique.
After a short while, we walked back and down through the underpass to the raised banking on the inside of Tertre Rouge - what I now consider to be the best viewing area on the whole circuit. Having spoken regularly about the ever-present debris fencing at Le Mans these days, this is one of the very few spots where the amateur photographer can gain the elevation necessary to take photos ofm the cars above the fencing - one of the reasons why my shots from here substantially outnumber the pictures I took anywhere else! As it was, I still couldn't take my photos on full zoom, but fortunately I didn't really need to from here.
Not long after we got there, Bernard B joined us and took a photo of the four of us - which I've reproduced here. It has since found it's way onto the forum! Around the same time we met Nobster, one of our Dutch Tenther friends.
We saw the session out there and then walked up inside the Esses before making our way to the ACO's 'Espace Club' on the inside of the Dunlop Bridge and once we'd signed in we looked for some food, but on this occasion (unlike last year), there was nothing much on offer, so we decided to cut our losses and head out to Arnage to watch the qualifying session from there, and hopefully to catch some food from the excellent eateries there.
