Déjà Vu - Into the Night at Tertre Rouge
It was really busy there, particularly with photographers, al, of whom were well aware that this is one of the few spots around the track where you can get decent panning shots above the fencing,. There are only two issues with that really. Firstly, the LMP1s go so staggeringly quickly through Tertre Rouge and with spectators on either side of you, catching and then panning with them as they appear into your view and then cross it is really quite tricky! The second is the fact that I've already got thousands of photos of cars taken at the same spot over many years. No matter how I try however, I just can't resist the urge to take a few hundred more each year....
The weather remained quite decent, thankfully with no more rain predicted during the night. It was also warmer than it had been at this time for several years. There have been a number of occasions in the last 7-8 years when I've got to Tertre Rouge at around 10 pm on race night and have started to wish that I had something warmer on, but this year I had my insulated coat and was feeling quite comfortable. We had taken our standard evening meal when we arrived at Tertre Rouge, probably my last merguez of the week - shame!
And so to the videos. I took quite a bit of footage, but most of it is quite poor, so a small selection here..... If nothing else, they're worth it for the sound, if not the quality of the picture.....!
