Breakfast at Mulsanne
It's a relatively short drive to the car park at Mulsanne Corner and then that rather tiring walk (at this stage of the proceedings anyway!) out to the corner itself where I finally broke out the camera again.
One of the attractions of Mulsanne Corner is the arrival of the early morning croissants for breakfast, along with small cups of 'hot'. It's brown, hot and wet, but whether it actually tastes anything like coffee is a bit of a moot point.... We watched a bit more of the race and then met up with Pascal to indulge in some more.... coffee.
By this time the race seemed to have started to swing towards Porsche, with the #19 car able to match - and in fact beat - anything that the Audis could throw at it, particularly any time that Nick Tandy was driving it.
By now I was pretty much out on my feet, struggling to stay awake every time we sat down for coffee, so just before 9 am, we took the walk back to the car (it always seems twice as long on the way back), with the wonderful night sadly now well behind us. This time is really our only 'respite' from the race each year as we take an hour out to quickly drive back to the hotel for a hot shower and a change of clothes. For me, this has become essential as the break and the freshen-up just about enables me to get through the rest of the day up to the 3 pm finish.
