Time to Go for It - The Second Qualifying Session
We watched the second qualifying session, not from our own seats in the front row of T17 (where we would be at 3 pm on Saturday), but from the back of the stand where the height made photography slightly easier, although, as you can see from the photos, it's nigh-on impossible to get a clean shot of the cars without fencing - and worse still - the fencing stanchions - ruining the shots. Still, I guess that's the penalty of being an amateur photographer at a race circuit these days!
As the Porsche qualifying came to a conclusion the teams began to line up the cars for the start of the session at 7 pm. Qualifying got under way and we even got to see the Nissan Zeod turn in a few laps before it conked out again and had to be pushed down the pitlane to it's pit right at the end of the (rather aptly renamed) 'Row of Woe'. But it did make it out again.
Allon was keen to use the time available to go and search out the best deals on t-shirts for his children and disappeared after an hour or so.
It was very pleasant to sit here and watch the session in glorious sunshine, everyone totally relaxed and enjoying the atmosphere.
