The Tourists' Story

Time for Breakfast

So, the night was over for another year. What looked likely to be a lovely Sunday had dawned as the race reached and passed the half-way point. I now had to 'survive' until 7.30 when Ian or Robert would kindly return and take me back to Le Grand Lucé for breakfast. I still had the camera going, of course.....

Having been ensconced in the pits grandstand for several hours now, I decided it really was time to shift my weary bones somewhere else. So I made my way out of the grandstand and walked through the underpass and out on the other side onto the tribunes. I managed to find myself quite a nice (if small and oversubscribed!) little spot where I could actually avoid the debris fencing - and no, I'm not going to tell you where it is, either...... (Knowing my luck it won't be there in 2007!).

Despite the relative lack of light still at this time, I was able to get a few reasonable shots. There would have been no chance of doing this a few years ago before I got my digital SLR.

At this point I decided to turn my attention to pit-callers. It's always been a good way to while away some time, either during the night or in the early hours of the morning, when the tribunes are relatively empty - watching the pits and waiting for the cars to come in for regular (or not so regular stops).

I was now officially out for the count so I made my way around the top of the Village to wait for Ian. He duly arrived bang on time and we had a reviving cup of coffee before heading back to Le Cheval Blanc for breakfast.
