Le Mans 2010 - Ayse's Story - Page 3

More Scrutineering....

The drivers were being interviewed on the stage the ACO had erected alongside the entrance to the Scrutineering area. We watched the Drayson car being scrutineered and there was clearly some issue that was causing concern. We knew the car had to be adjusted to run at Le Mans and it seemed as though something was not quite right, however when James later spoke with Dan from Lola, no answer was forthcoming....

After watching the Corvette drivers pose for photographers and seeing the arrival of the two Risi cars, it was time for lunch and James and I made our way back to our favourite bar just after one o'clock for our first merguez of the Le Mans 2010 trip, albeit in a quite unusual style, with cheesy mash and salad! Pretty good though!

After a reasonably leisurely lunch, it was back to the scrutineering fray, where we were able to have a good look at the Rebellion Lolas which for me, with the possible exception of the Oreca Peugeot, were hands-down the best looking cars at Le Mans this year.

Having got fed up with waiting for the Audi's to be removed from their transporter, we wandered to the other side of the scrutineering area to see the BMW's going through - I still believe there is no place at Le Mans for what is essentially a touring car not a GT car, but what do I know?

and James hob-knobs with the team manager......

We continued to walk around taking the opportunity to get a good close-up look at the cars before they were loaded back onto the trailers and transporters for the journey back to the circuit. It was at this point that James bumped into Bart Haydon, manager of the Rebellion team, formerly Speedy Team Sebah, with whom he liaised over the Ten Tenths pits visit in 2009. Bart was in relaxed mood, clearly bullish about his two cars chances in the race and willing to spend quite a bit of time talking to James about the cars and the team in general, while I was checking out the other sights on offer.....

....the Ferrari, I mean.....
